FFF15battleforpeace1The Fargo Film Festival congratulates Joost Jansen as the 2015 first place winner of the 2-Minute Movie Contest.

Jansen’s animated short “A Battle for Peace” was chosen by judges as the winning work from more than fifty submitted movies. The movie was made as part of a project called The 12 Minutes About Peace, a collection of a dozen animated films marking the centenary of World War One.

According to Jansen, the shorts were made by emerging as well as established talents in Flemish animation.

The second place movie, “Cruising Electric,” is director Brumby Boylston’s advertisement for the movie tie-in playset imagined for the William Friedkin/Al Pacino film “Cruising.” Boylston’s short was an official selection of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival.

Third place went to Johnny Chew’s phantasmagoric music video collage “Oops,” set to the music of Los Angeles-based Braainzz.

Thanks to all the moviemakers who shared their work for the showcase. The 2-Minute Movie Contest will return in 2016.
